Can the truck get down to the house?
Sometimes, and sometimes a smaller van does it instead. Our largest vehicle is a four tonne pantech, and a steep or narrow private drive can be too tight or too soft for it to go down safely.
Where it cannot, the pantech waits up top and a cargo van shuttles the load to the door. That is one booking at one price. Send a photo down the drive and we will tell you which way it goes.
How do you protect valuable furniture?
Every piece is wrapped in blankets and strapped, and the load is stacked so nothing leans on anything fragile. Tall or delicate items that come apart are dismantled first, which is safer than turning them through a doorway whole.
Tell us at booking about anything fragile, from a glass cabinet to a large mirror, so the crew brings the right padding. We carry single items up to 150kg, and anything heavier sits outside what we take.
Our street is one-way and narrow. A problem?
Not usually, though it changes the timing. A single lane is fine to drive, but a truck has to stand still while a wardrobe comes out, and that needs the space behind it kept clear.
A quiet word with the neighbours either side the evening before usually frees enough kerb. If the street is too tight for a pantech, a smaller van comes instead and makes a few more trips.
How do you handle heavy glass or stone?
Carefully, and within a firm weight limit. Any single item we carry tops out at 150kg and three metres long, which covers most glass tables, stone benchtops and large mirrors found in a home.
Heavy tops are moved on their edge where possible, wrapped and strapped, with two to three haulers on the lift. Anything above that weight, or a safe, sits beyond what we take. Send the dimensions and a rough weight so the vehicle is right.
