My block has a loading dock. Will you use it?
Yes, whenever the building lets us. Loading through a dock keeps the truck off the main road and shortens every trip the crew makes.
What we need from you is the clearance height painted at the ramp, and the name of whoever controls the dock diary. Our largest vehicle is a 4 tonne pantech, so where a basement sits lower than that we send a cargo van and accept more runs instead. That choice gets made at the quote, never on the morning.
Who books the goods lift, me or you?
You do, or your building manager does it for you. Blocks here take the request from a resident or an owner, not from a contractor ringing on your behalf.
Two things are worth asking while you have them on the phone: how long the window runs, and whether the block expects padding in the lift car. A short slot is no trouble, it simply means more haulers working at once, and we would rather size the crew for that early. If the window shifts, tell us and the booking shifts with it.
I am in a brick home a few streets back. Simpler?
Usually, yes. Nothing has to be booked and nobody hands you a window, so the day starts the moment the crew arrives.
The thing to check is the path itself. A gate that opens inwards, a step up to the porch, or a car left sitting in the driveway will each add minutes to every single trip. Clear the run from kerb to door the night before, and tell us roughly how many paces it is. That number is what sizes the crew.
Can you take away what we leave behind?
Yes, as a separate junk removal booking. Old furniture, appliances and renovation leftovers all go, and the haulers bring them out of the room rather than waiting at the kerb.
Book it for the same day as the move where the timing allows. The crew is already at the address, the rooms are empty, and that is the quickest a clear-out ever goes. If you would rather split the two, the rubbish job can run a day either side, and each one carries its own fixed price.
