What stays behind is anything that is not really green waste: treated or painted timber, garden waste tangled through building rubble, and chemicals or fuel from the shed. Those need a different run or a different service. Keep the pile to plant matter, turf and soil, and the whole lot loads as one straightforward job.
Do I have to bag the clippings?
No, you do not have to bag anything. We carry loose piles out from wherever they sit, so a heap by the back fence is fine to leave as it is.
Bagging does help, though. Loose clippings pack down and take up room, so bags load faster and keep the drive clean, which can mean a smaller vehicle for the same garden. Cutting long branches down to a liftable length has the same effect. If it is easier to leave it loose, leave it loose; the crew handles it either way.
How much green waste fits in a load?
It depends on the vehicle and how wet the pile is. A ute takes one session's cutting, a 1 to 3 tonne van a full hedge job, and the 4 tonne pantech a whole yard.
