On a falling street we look for a level pad, a cross street, or the apron of a driveway. Loading on a grade puts the tail-lift at the wrong angle and lets the load shift, so we avoid it.

Those houses give you generous rooms and a narrow hall. Wardrobes and bed bases usually come apart, and the front step gets a board laid over it.

Our street runs downhill. Where will the truck sit?
Wherever the road flattens out, which on the steeper streets down towards the river can be several houses from your gate. We agree the spot when you book.
A trolley with a fridge on it will run away from you on a slope, so the crew takes the flattest ground it can reach and accepts a longer walk. If there is a level verge or a wide driveway near your gate, tell us, because either one beats the kerb.
I am moving from a brick house into a new flat.
That is one booking and one price, with the crew sized for whichever end is harder. In practice that is usually the flat, because the lift sets the pace.
Load order changes too. Out of a brick house the crew can bring things to the truck in any sequence. Going into a block, everything has to arrive in the order it will go up the lift, so give us your new floor and the window you have been given.
The hallway will not take our wardrobe.
Then it comes apart and goes back together at the far end, which is inside the fixed price as long as you flag it when booking.
Measure the narrowest point on the way out, usually a doorframe or the turn at the top of the stairs, and compare it with the widest face of the piece. Taking a door off its hinges buys a few centimetres and often settles it. Older one-piece units with a fixed mirror are the ones to warn us about.
Do you need my lift booking up front?
Yes, before the day if you can get it. The building gives that window to you as the resident, so ask as soon as your date is set and pass the times on.
Two details ride along with it. The basement clearance decides whether the pantech goes under the roller door or a cargo van does the running, and a narrow lift car decides how much comes apart upstairs. If the block shifts your window, ring us and we move the start rather than the date.
