Does a two-storey home take longer?
A little, and the staircase is the reason rather than the floor count. Every heavy piece upstairs makes one careful trip down.
The crew is sized for that at the quote. Tell us how many bedrooms sit upstairs and which pieces are the big ones. Where a bed or a wardrobe will not make the turn on the stairs, it comes apart and goes back together at the new place.
How do you move heavy things downstairs?
Carefully, and with the right number of hands. A two person lift on the stairs stays a two person lift, and a heavier piece brings a third hauler on.
Some pieces are easier apart than whole. A bed frame or a modular lounge often comes down in sections and is rebuilt at the other end. Flag the heavy upper-floor items when you book, so the crew and the vehicle are sized for them.
Will a big new home need two trucks?
Rarely. A four tonne pantech with a tail-lift holds a full double-storey home, and the crew is sized to pack it properly rather than in a rush.
The exception is a home with a fitted-out garage or a large shed on top of the house, which is another load again. Where the volume genuinely needs a second run, that goes in the quote, so the number you agree already covers it and nothing changes on the day.
Can the truck use our driveway?
Usually, since the estates were laid out with room for it. A truck at the door turns the outside carry into a few short steps.
Two things are worth checking beforehand: a low carport beam, which rules out the pantech and brings a cargo van instead, and a gate post that narrows the entry. Neither stops the move. Send the driveway width and any height limit, and the vehicle is matched to it before the morning.
